I’ve wanted to take a class at MCAD (the Minneapolis College of Art and Design) for a while now – they’re a few blocks from my apartment and they have some great continuing education classes on a variety of subjects. I took a three-week calligraphy course recently to help expand my repertoire of things-I-can-do-by-hand. It was a great way to learn about controlling the pen and have some supervised practice.
Our second night project (first night was practice writing and writing our names) was creating a calligraphic quote. I chose “The little things are infinitely the most important.” from Sherlock Holmes. I’ve been re-reading the Sherlock Holmes novels by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, which inspired me to use this quote, but I think it also just makes a good life quote on its own.
Both of these prints and other items with this design are available at my Society6 shop.
