While I was shopping the last minute clearance items before Halloween this year, I ran into these half-pumpkins at Michael’s that are designed to hang on a hook. We’d been looking for good Halloween decorations, and for 70% off I figured I couldn’t go too wrong. After I showed my husband, he suggested adding a face to make it more interesting. Good idea, but we decided to go with a fun Halloween greeting instead.
I sketched out a few ideas and settled on some angled text with script lettering in the middle. This was also a great excuse to pick out another paint marker. I went through a few different ones previously when trying to find a good white marker to write on colored paper. Turns out from that experience that Sharpie paint markers seemed to work the best. I picked up a large black one for this design.
Very easy to make, and I think it turned out quite well!
If you want to make your own, all you need is:
- A decorative pumpkin
- Sharpie Paint Markers
- Scratch paper and drawing supplies
Just sketch out your design and draw directly onto the pumpkin. What’s great about this is that it doesn’t have to be perfect – Halloween is all about crazy lettering and designs anyway!
